A day out with a visit to the theatre, followed by high tea. A coach trip to Pitlochry, with a matinee performance of Alan Ayckbourn’s play “Absurd Person Singular”. A limited number of seats have been booked in rows C & D of the stalls. High tea is included and will be taken in the theatre restaurant. There should be time, after arrival at Pitlochry Festival Theatre in the morning, either to visit the nearby Explorers’ Garden, or to spend time in the town. (The cost of entry to the Garden is not included in the price).
Cost £50 includes coach hire, theatre ticket, high tea and tips.

An afternoon visit is planned to Portmore Garden, near Peebles, subject of an article in the latest issue of the Caledonian Journal. The Walled Garden is of special note, with stunning herbaceous borders planted in artistic colour harmonies, a potager, ornamental fruit cages, a rose garden and a well-stocked Victorian glasshouse. The surrounding landscape has amazing views

From his rural Perthshire upbringing via his Professorship at University College, Dundee, botany played a central role in Patrick Geddes’ life and work. This Riddle’s Court event in partnership with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE), will include a tour of the herbarium building and, uniquely, will reveal some of Geddes’ own botanical collections.
