For the seventh year running we are organising a Pallet Garden Challenge. As a result of our lottery funding we acquired a number of link-a-bord pallets. In March 2010, the Club donated these to primary schools in the Nairn area. The challenge for the school is to create a theme of their own choice and last year The Commonwealth Games proved to be a popular and highly topical choice.
Inevitably, a school’s participation is dependent on staff being willing and available to be involved in the organisation of this venture. The children are great enthusiasts and the challenge provides an excellent focus for the activities of their gardening or environmental awareness group.
We display photographs of the pallets on Show Day when the prizes are awarded. We have been able to offer prize money to all entrants thanks to generous sponsorship from a local firm, Finlayson Forestry in Contin.
