From his rural Perthshire upbringing via his Professorship at University College, Dundee, botany played a central role in Patrick Geddes’ life and work. This Riddle’s Court event in partnership with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE), will include a tour of the herbarium building and, uniquely, will reveal some of Geddes’ own botanical collections. Tickets £20, available on Eventbrite or via SHBT.

“Enchanted Forrest”. An Exhibition of Botanical Art 12th September – 16th October
The first major juried exhibition of the Scottish Society of Botanical Artists (thessba.org) in the Park Gallery, Callendar House, Callendar Park, Falkirk. FK1 1YR. Ground Floor. Monday 12th September to Sunday 16th October 2016
The Park Gallery is a particularly appropriate setting for the theme of the exhibition as Falkirk is the birthplace of George Forrest – the ‘Indiana Jones of the plant world’ and the arboretum in the extensive grounds of Callendar House has been planted with a large collection of George Forrest specimens.
